How It Works: The Gravity Separation & Stratification Process

Common Problems

This section is designed to address the most pressing inquiries customers may have regarding the daily operation, maintenance, product advantages, and after-sales service of our machine. Our aim is to help you gain a comprehensive understanding of our overall capabilities and enable you to make informed decisions for your projects.

A gravity jig concentrator is a highly efficient piece of gravity separation equipment used to separate valuable heavy minerals from lighter gangue. By utilizing periodic water pulsations, it achieves precise stratification by density, making it the ideal choice for alluvial gold recovery, iron ore, manganese, tin, and barite processing without using chemicals.

While both are essential for gravity separation, a mineral jig is designed to handle a much higher throughput and a broader feeding particle size range (up to 25 mm). A shaking table, on the other hand, is typically reserved for the downstream fine-cleaning stage to treat much smaller particle sizes.

Proper crushing and screening using vibrating screens ensures a uniform, pre-classified feed size before the material enters the jigging machine. This uniform sizing optimizes fluid bed stratification, prevents screen blinding, and significantly maximizes the overall mineral recovery rate.

Yes, it is one of the most effective and eco-friendly solutions for alluvial gold recovery. It efficiently captures coarse and free gold particles using only water pulsations, completely eliminating the need for hazardous chemical reagents like cyanide or mercury.

In a standard mineral processing plant, the jig concentrator is installed directly downstream of the crushing and screening circuit. It receives the correctly sized slurry, concentrates the heavy values early in the process, and sends the remaining material for fine grinding or final separation.

Due to its robust heavy-duty design, a gravity jig requires minimal maintenance. Regular checks should focus on the water pulsation system, monitoring the high-resistance screen mesh for wear, and ensuring consistent water flow to maintain optimal bed fluidization.

Depending on the specific model of the mineral jig, it can highly efficiently process feed sizes ranging from fine 0.5 mm up to coarse 25 mm, providing excellent flexibility for different types of mineral deposits.

Our solutions seamlessly integrate industrial crushing, screening, and mineral processing. We manufacture our jigs using premium anti-abrasive materials, delivering massive processing capacities (up to 30 TPH), exceptionally low operating costs (OPEX), and comprehensive global technical support.
