Wet Drum Magnetic Separator– Product Overview

The wet drum magnetic separator is designed for continuous recovery and concentration of ferromagnetic minerals. It processes slurry mixtures efficiently using a high-intensity permanent magnet system. The machine features three tank configurations: CTS concurrent, CTN counter-current, and CTB semi-counter-current flow models. During operation, iron ore particles, magnetite, and heavy media are drawn to the rotating stainless steel drum surface. Non-magnetic tailings discharge automatically, while captured magnetic minerals are continuously washed into the concentrate outlet. Its durable drum shell, wear-resistant coating, and low power consumption lower operating costs in mineral processing plants. This heavy-duty wet magnetic separation equipment delivers high recovery rates, effective iron removal, and stable slurry handling for mining operations worldwide.

Working Principle of Wet Drum Magnetic Separator

The wet drum magnetic separator relies on a stationary magnetic system inside a rotating stainless steel drum to achieve continuous mineral separation. The process begins when iron ore slurry enters the tank through the feed box. As the slurry flows beneath the drum, strong permanent magnets attract ferromagnetic minerals like magnetite to the rotating drum surface.

Non-magnetic gangue and tailings pass through the tank bottom and discharge automatically. Meanwhile, captured magnetic particles remain held against the drum shell by magnetic force and travel upward as the drum rotates. High-pressure wash water sprays clean entrained impurities from the mineral layer, increasing concentrate purity.

When the drum carries the magnetic particles past the stationary magnetic field, the magnetic attraction drops. The clean magnetic concentrate detaches from the drum shell and washes into the concentrate hopper for collection. This continuous process delivers high recovery rates and stable slurry handling for heavy-duty mining operations.

Common Problems

This section is designed to address the most pressing inquiries customers may have regarding the daily operation, maintenance, product advantages, and after-sales service of our machine. Our aim is to help you gain a comprehensive understanding of our overall capabilities and enable you to make informed decisions for your projects.

A wet drum magnetic separator continuously recovers ferromagnetic materials from slurry. It processes iron ore, magnetite, and heavy media in mining plants worldwide.

CTS concurrent tank handles coarse feed particles up to six millimeters. CTN counter-current tank targets fine slime recovery. CTB semi-counter-current tank suits roughing and finishing stages.

Our wet drum magnetic separation equipment offers low and medium intensity magnetic fields. Surface intensity ranges from 100 to 300 millitesla based on target minerals.

The machine processes magnetite, titanomagnetite, pyrrhotite, and ferrosilicon. It removes tramp iron and recovers heavy medium slurry effectively.

The stationary magnetic circuit uses high-energy ferrite or NdFeB permanent magnets. It operates continuously without electric power consumption for magnetic field creation.

The stainless steel drum shell is coated with durable vulcanized rubber or polyurethane lining. This prevents abrasion and extends operational service life.

Selection depends on slurry flow rate, solid density, mineral size distribution, and target recovery rate. Contact our engineering team for customized sizing.

Inspect drum shell lining and drive motor bearings regularly. Ensure wash water spray pipes remain clean to maintain high mineral separation efficiency.
